Inner skin on cavity builds, foundation blocks, dense or thermal block. Cavity insulation set as we go. Levelled, gauged, ready for plaster or face. From foundation up to wall plate, we keep the courses dead level so the carpenter is not chasing every joist.
Scope scales with the job. These four are the spine of every blockwork engagement.
Heavy concrete block from the bottom of the trench up to DPC level. Sat on the strip foundation, cores filled where needed for stud anchor or starter bars.
Dense or thermal block inner skin on cavity walls, with full-fill or partial-fill insulation, wall ties set to the right pattern and spacing for the cavity width.
Aircrete, dense and thermal block to spec. Joints buttered, courses gauged off a profile, openings formed for door and window cills.
Ground floor, first floor and wall plate heights all set off the same datum. No surprises when the carpenter or steel arrives.
Thermal block (aircrete) gives a better U-value across the inner skin and helps a smaller wall hit Building Regs without needing more insulation in the cavity. Dense block is used where the wall is structural for steel bearings, party walls and similar.
Yes. Twin-leaf party walls in dense block with insulation between, built to Building Regs and Approved Document E for sound. Common on terraced new builds and on cross-wall extensions.
Most domestic extensions: foundation block done in 2 to 3 days, then inner skin in pace with the outer brick. Full new-build inner skin to wall plate height: usually 2 weeks per house.
Yes. Stainless wall ties to the right pattern: 450 mm vertical, 900 mm horizontal as standard, closer around openings and at the corners.
